How is the homeschool evaluation conducted? Is there a test?
Basically, I would chat with each student about their school year (NO QUIZZES!) and address any questions or concerns they or you may have. Our homeschool evaluations are meant to be totally STRESS-FREE and a time to celebrate your children’s educational accomplishments from the past year.
When will I receive my evaluation letter after our appointment?
I will often get the evaluation letter back to you the same or next day, however, please plan on scheduling your evaluation 2 weeks before it is due to allow for plenty of time to turn it in to the district office.
There is a $25.00 rush fee for each evaluation letter needed on the very same day.
How are do I make a payment?
Payment can be sent via Paypal, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash App once the evaluation is complete. Once payment is received, I will then send you a signed copy of an evaluation letter for each child that you can send to the school district.
Are the evaluations online and how are they scheduled?
All portfolio evaluations are conducted via phone. If you feel your child would benefit from a video call, please let me know and it can be set up through Meet or WhatsApp for an additional $25 fee.
You can schedule your homeschool evaluation HERE: https://meetings.hubspot.com/marie50.
Not sure how much time to block off? Reserve at least 15 minutes for 1 student, 30 minutes for 2 and 45 for 3+. There is a 15-minute buffer before/after each session so no worries if we go a bit over . Please let me know if you don’t see any dates/times that work for you.
Which school material do I need to have ready?
What I like to see for each student is a sample of beginning, middle, and end of year work for each subject. For example, a math worksheet or two from the beginning, middle, and end of the year. Depending on the subject, this can be a poster, picture, writing sample, etc. If your student completes any e-learning classes, please provide transcripts or grade reports from the program.
I also like to see a book list. This does not need to be cumulative, just a sample of what each child is reading or what you read to them. Also please provide a curriculum list, any educational websites used, co-op classes taken, etc. As well as a sample of what your child does on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. It can show a day or two of a written calendar, a printed out Skedtrack calendar, a photo collage of the year, family blog, whatever your family uses to keep track of your activities.
If you unschool, pictures of field trips, tickets, or memorabilia from any other fun experiences can be sent in.
If you have a special needs child, please feel free to send any samples showing what you work on throughout the year. Video clips work great for this!
